Cheesecake

Today I stopped on the way home from school to buy cheesecake. I had to choose between raspberry and chocolate brownie flavour. Obviously I choose the choclate brownie one. I was really looking forward to eating it after dinner whilst drinking red wine and watching the Simpsons. I imagined that it would taste really good, just the perfect treat after a fairly shitty day.

In fact it was too chocolately and the base seemed to have been slightly burnt which in my opinion impaired the overall taste of the product. It was disappointing. Very disappointing.

I so should have gotten the raspberry one.

Whatever happened about the date?

I guess you're wondering what happened on the Chicken Dance date...
Feels a bit weird talking about it on here, so certain details will be omitted to protect the innocent.
Well the evening was very pleasant indeed actually, apart from my date turning up 30 mins late. He has repented for this error and his apology has been accepted. We ate dinner, drank red wine and talked a lot. It was fun. He is fun. It was good.

We did it again last night...

The Chicken Dance

Managed to get drunk twice this weekend which was good. Friday night was spent in a local wine bar with three friends, where we consumed vast quantities of wine and bacon fries. Then we had a lock in and proceeded to slap our own asses while dancing to Dolly Parton.

On Saturday night I discovered a new way to attract men. By the way I have now found out where all the single men are- in 'The Irish Social Club' in Nottingham. Millions of them. Just waiting to pounce. So I went there on Saturday night with three other friends and started having a bit of a dance but found the experience rather dull- until I started doing the chicken dance. Up until this point, despite looking bloody gorgeous, I had had very little male attention. As soon as I started dancing like a freak the men came swarming. I had a circle of men round me. I was the chicken dancing queen!

You gotta try it! I've even got a date out of it tomorrow night! Watch this space...

Today I have been mostly thinking about...

* Winter sucks!
* Is it normal to feel this tired all the time?
* How do I tell a kid in my class at school that he really smells?
* Will I be able to do the downward facing dog tonight at yoga?
* When can I get drunk?
* Where are all the single men?
* I should stop smoking
* Have I put on weight?

Yes folks that's about all that's been going on in my head. Yes I really am that shallow. No great ponderings of the meaning of life. This is it. Inside my head.

What is good about winter?

Is it just me or does winter officially suck? What is the point? This time of year really depresses me. I think it's all the talk of Christmas 2 months before it happens.

I recognise that there are two sorts of people- those who love Christmas and those who loathe it. Guess which category I fall into?! All the hype and forced joviality. Yeah, it's fun for kids but apart from that, it's one day full of arguments, too much food and being given a bunch of crap that I a) have to figure out if my luggage allowance will let me bring it back home (god, imagine having to pay excess baggage for all that shite!) b) have to find somewhere to put it all in my small house (can I afford a loft conversion to house all the bath foam/ photograph frames and candles).

So that's Christmas out of the way. Then it's January and that's when Winter in the UK really starts- that's when it gets really cold and wet and dark and damp... Days pass and I don't see daylight. My skin is grey. I'm tired. I have a constant streaming nose. I can't pay my heating bill.

Please tell me what is good about Winter because I can't think of anything. We dont even get any proper snow. Just a light dusting if we're lucky.

Miso Soup

I love miso soup! For those of you who have never had the fortunate occasion to try miso soup let me explain...

Many Japanese people begin their day with a bowl of miso soup and in some traditional households miso soup is homemade from scratch. The basic ingredient is miso which is soy bean paste. There are variations as to other ingredients- tofu, spring onions, seaweed and daikon (Japanese radish) feature regularly. Miso soup has a really salty taste, like the sea, and just eating it makes you feel healthy! The Japanese claim that there is a correlation between the consumption of miso soup and longevity of life!

So if you've never tried it I suggest you do expecially coming into the winter. It makes me feel warm and safe and reminds me of my other life in Japan.

Mmmm miso soup :)
